Zinnia Paper Weight project

Lost Zinnias

Here is a project that has been sitting on my computer in “draft mode”. I can’t believe I forgot to share it with you! Well, better late than never. 🙂

This project starts with a

clear-acrylic, oval stamping block and Multi Step Zinnias

… and transforms it into a lovely paper weight.

Begin by randomly stamping the zinnias (working from the center out, masking the center zinnias). Embossed the sentiment. Position the block over the stamped area as desired for the end product. Lightly trace around the block with a pencil.  Using a tooth pick [or small disposable brush], apply thin coat of Diamond Glaze to the “back” side edge of the acrylic block (only the edge so the glue won’t show though the block and distort your stamped image). Reposition the block over the stamped image within the pencil out line and glue side down. Being careful not to nick or cut into the block, trim away the excess paper neatly around the block with sharp scissors (or x-acto knife). Back the underside of the paperweight with velvet paper, die cut in an oval shape (a bit smaller that the block) … a scalloped oval is also pretty.

Makes a great gift!

Pink Hydrangeas

Happy Kitchen Sink Monday!

My card for today was inspired by Lynn’s 10 min. challenge – #76 (10MC76) – quick masking with nestabilities. I think adding a shape, in this case a square, behind the flowers, makes the flowers look like they are “popping” out of a bow or “window” instead of floating. Thanks Lynn for sharing this great challenge (and tip).

I used 3 Step Hydrangea , 3 Step Letters from the Past and Words of Love.  I think I was a bit heavy-handed when sponging the ink in the square masked area …  I think I should have used a lighter pink. It looks too much like the same color as the flowers. Live and learn. 🙂

_________________________________________

I was born and raised in hot and sunny southern Arizona, where I still currently reside. In June, 1994, I married my high school sweetheart and best friend, and we have two wonderful children together.

Paper crafting has been a passion of mine for many years. I have been stamping on and off since 1994, shortly after I got married. However, in 2004, one of my dear friends got me majorly hooked on stamping again. A few years later, I was introduced to Split Coast Stampers (SCS) where you may know me as cmc2stamp. I have learned so much from the other wonderfully talented stampers on SCS, and have seen my own stamping style grow over the last few years! In addition to stamping, I really enjoy the outdoors – camping and hiking, and spending time with my loving family!

Now on to Connie’s challenge, which is: “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not” Valentine. Make a valentine with one of the KSS FLOWER stamp sets without using the colors red & pink.tlc197-spechled-background-holly-wreath-cmc

Boy, did I have fun with this challenge! Not only did I look to Connie for today’s challenge … but I looked to Connie for my inspiration as well! 😀 Last month Connie did this fabulous holly wreath spinner card! Spinner cards always look like so much fun, so I thought today’s challenge was the perfect time for me to make one too. Here is my card for Connie’s challenge.
