Heartfelt Sympathy

Today I have two sympathy cards to share. The first card I used Multi-Step Lilies and Words of Comfort & Joy on the inside. The second card is with 3 Step Bitty Tulip Bouquet and the sentiment is from 3 Step Daisy.

Zinnia Paper Weight project

Lost Zinnias

Here is a project that has been sitting on my computer in “draft mode”. I can’t believe I forgot to share it with you! Well, better late than never. 🙂

This project starts with a

clear-acrylic, oval stamping block, and Multi Step Zinnias

… and transforms it into a lovely paper weight.

Begin by randomly stamping the zinnias (working from the center out, masking the center zinnias). Embossed the sentiment. Position the block over the stamped area as desired for the end product. Lightly trace around the block with a pencil.  Using a tooth pick [or small disposable brush], apply a thin coat of Diamond Glaze to the “back” side edge of the acrylic block (only the edge so the glue won’t show through the block and distort your stamped image). Reposition the block over the stamped image within the pencil out line and glue side down. Being careful not to nick or cut into the block, trim away the excess paper neatly around the block with sharp scissors (or x-acto knife). Back the underside of the paperweight with velvet paper, die cut in an oval shape (a bit smaller than the block) … a scalloped oval is also pretty.

Makes a great gift!

On the 3rd Day of Christmas …

… my True Love gave to me,

Three French Hens.

Happy Kitchen Sink Monday! I hope everyone’s Christmas was Merry and Bright…. and this is just the beginning of the twelve days of Christmas. Which I am thankful for, because I wasn’t completely ready for Christmas this year as I would have like.  This year my Christmas cards to send out have turn into New Years’ cards … but better late than never. And as a dear friend says …. “All in a day”. 😉

You might wonder what am I leading up too? I want to share about a really great challenge going on from The Daily Dare. Deb and Bev had this fabulous idea to get a jump on next year’s Christmas Cards by Celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmas with a new Christmas card Challenge & a New Gift to give each day.

What does this have to do with me? Besides that this challenge is perfect for me to get a jump on my Holiday Cards for next year, as well as a jump on one of my New Year’s resolutions, (to make one Christmas Card a week)…. I am today’s Hostess for the Third Day of Christmas! Yahoo! 🙂

The gift of Three French Hens, represent The Three Theological Virtues:

1) Faith, 2) Hope, and 3) Love (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Here is my Challenge: Create a Christmas card that includes the word/s Faith, Hope and/or Love as the sentiment or incorporated in the sentiment.

The majority of the sentiment came together from two sets, Words of Comfort & Joy and 3 Step Poinsettia. Faith, Hope and Love came from the set, Vintage Words . I must add, I don’t know how the word “Faith” has escaped from being in a KSS’ stamp set! You can bet that sentiment has moved to the top of my “To Do” list! But, where there is a will, there is a way and I was able to stamp the word “Faith” by masking out letters from other words in the set. I used: FA from family, the I from live and TH from thoughts.

As for the gift for the winner to today’s challenge, head on over to The Daily Dare to find out more. To play along, upload your card to the Splitcoast Gallery with the keyword: DD12days03.

The deadline for all submissions is midnight on Sunday, January 9th.  Winners will be chosen announced over at The Daily Dare on Monday, January 10.

The full details for The Daily Dare’s –  12 Days of Christmas Challenge, can be found: HERE

Please remember to check what the rest of the KS Crew has cooked up for you today.
