Spring Tulips

Happy Spring!

This basket full of Spring Tulips would have taken forever if I had tried to mask all the flowers and leaves.

Instead, I stamped the leaves and stems one over the other (no masking). Then stamped cut out tulip flowers and extra leaves and arranged them on top of the stamped layer of leaves and stems. This made it much easier to “arrange” my bouquet. Adding pop dots to some of the flowers and leaves also added lots of dimension to the card. Below are some photos of how I created this card.

Basket-of-Tulips by Kitchen Sink Stamps

I started this card by stamping Step #1 of the basket. This gave me a base/area to build my tulip bouquet.step-1 With masking tape, I taped off the sides and bottom of the basket. step-2

Stamped overlapping stems and leaves. step-3

Removed the masking tape and filled in empty spaces with more leaves that had been cut out. Once I got all the loose leaves in place, I taped them all down below the top of the basket. Then stamped the brush stroke “shadow” at the bottom of the basket.
step-4

Finally, I added a fully stamped cutout of the basket on top of all the tulips, leaves and stems for a finished bouquet.step-5NOTE: I realized after I finished the card, I should have cut away the “back side” of the basket so the tulips would look more like they are in the basket instead of behind the basket…oh well! LOL!Basket-of-Tulips-CLSUPThanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

New Challenge, New Give-Away & New Stamps on their way!

Happy Kitchen Sink Monday … and Happy Labor Day

I hope everyone is having a nice long weekend and enjoying their day off!

I have quite a bit of fun news to share with you today. Besides being SUPER excited about getting ready for KSS’ next Workshop this Oct. in Houston (HERE for all the details), the KSCrew Challenge is BACK! YaHoo!

This month’s KS Crew Challenge is hosted by Connie, whose challenge is: “Ushering in Fall“…Make a card inspired by the fall…colors, leaves, back to school anything you can think of when you think of “Fall”. For all the details about playing along with us, please GO HERE.

I am so happy how this card just fell together… sorry about the pun! But seriously, I went to my box of cardstock scraps and the pieces were just sitting there waiting to be put together. Love when that happens!

Next: Kitchen Sink Stamps will release 3 new stamps sets next Monday, Sept. 13th. To have a bit of fun … thought I would give you some clues before I show you any sneak peeks. Are you game? OK! 🙂

3 new stamps sets… 3 clues that need to be solved. Easy Peasy, right? Right! … But where are the clues you ask …. that is what you all have to find. You won’t find any of the clues here …. but you will find them on 3 of the KS Crew members’ blogs. Which one is the question?… you’ll have to visit each blog to find out who has one of the clues! After you have found the 3 clues, come back HERE to post your answer by Thursday, Sept. 9th – Midnight PST. The first comment to get all 3 clues correct will win one (winner’s choice) of the newly released stamp sets!

See what the KS Crew has created to inspire today, plus … remember to find 3 clues and come back here to this blog to post your answers … you just might be the winner!

Last limited supply card from the woods

ADDED NOTE (8/16): Sorry for the delay. I had my post all scheduled to post this morning while traveling home… so I thought! 😦   I guess this is what 2 weeks in the woods can do… totally lose track of the days!

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday … and the final installment of stamping with”Limited Supplies” from Minn. North Woods.

We really had a memorable time traveling and visiting with family, old friends and old stomping grounds… while exploring new ones. I sure would LOVE to do a stamping retreat here next summer!!!! Anyone game to join me???

Spending time on the lake fishing and taking walks in the woods sure has inspired me for new stamp sets… which should cover a number of “requests” on that LONG list of future stamps. 😉

But, it is now time to head back home and get those ideas in motion, as well as iron out the details to October’s workshop in Houston, TX… and the mountains of laundry that will need to be done!

NOTE: All orders placed between July 29th – Aug. 15th, will ship out on Aug. 16th & 17th… thank you so much for you patience.

Please check out what the rest of the KS Crew has cooked up for you this Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday.

[a few last shots before we depart to go back home: a pair of 3 month old black bear cubs (taken at the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary, Orr MN) and yet another gorgeous sunset] Happy Stamping!

Multi Step stamping on vacation

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday!

We made it!

My family and I, have made our long trek from Southern California to the Land of 10,000 Lakes and are enjoying our family vacation in the north woods of Minn.  [1st photo: of the lake from our cabin, right after a good, long rain. 2nd photo: some  of the cabins along the shore. All I can say is… Heaven on earth! ]

I was planning on having my Monday KSS posts all scheduled for you … but then I thought, “What fun is that? Not sharing photos until after we get back home!” So, I threw in the bare (not bear! LOL) minimum of supplies into my suitcase, along with the challenge of….”Multi-Step Stamping on the Road”. 🙂

I limited myself to bringing 2 small and 2 mini stamp sets (2 sentiment sets: Vintage Words & Simple Sentiments and 2 Multi Step Stamps: Multi-Step Shamrocks & Clover and Multi-Step Ducks and Pigs … which should cover me for two weeks). These two sizes easily slipped into a sandwich ziplock bag. I pre-cut a handful of cardstock with the intentions of creating single layer cards only (GASP!). I packed two small acrylic blocks (1″x1″ & 2″x2″) and only a handful of Memento dew drop inks. Yes, picking which colors to pack was the hardest part for me to decide. LOL! So, after I picked 2 greens, a yellow & a pink ( seemed like a must for Shamrocks, Ducks and Pigs), I shut my eyes and grabbed a handful more of ink. That was another challenge for myself… work with whatever colors I grab! LOL!

Please check out what the rest of the KS Crew has cooked up for you this Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday.
