A Kitchen Sink full of Thanksgiving Inspiration!

This Thanksgiving Day card was inspired by a vintage looking card that I found while roaming the web. It can be found here. This turkey reminds me of the lovely Currier & Ives brown plates that my Grandmother would use for Thanksgiving dinner.

Somehow my card version kept growing and before I knew it, I had used 7 different KSS stamp sets! Electronically cutting out the turkey, ivy, basket of apples, pumpkins, corn, and banner made it a lot easier to stamp individually and then assemble. If I had tried to mask everything … I would still be stamping into New Years!!!

After having my stamped cut out images, I needed to determine where the background images should go. To help visualize this, I used removable adhesive on the stamped cut-outs and lightly placed them down on my card. This way I could see where the trees and hay bale should go first.

Using the MISTI, I placed the last step for the large tree (step #4) and the hay bale (Step #3) on my card over the cutouts. Closed the lid to pick up the stamps, removed the lightly tacked down cutouts and then inked up and stamped. This was the foundation. Next, cutting a quick mask for hay bale, I did the same process for the brush stroke ground (under the apple basket and hay bale) and pine trees (first the larger and the smaller – no mask just overlapped the trees). Lastly, added the sentiment. Then it was just a matter of adding permanent adhesive to the stamped cut out images that would go on top and then add up dots to the ivy, turkey and the banner with the sentiment.

Baby, it’s COLD outside…

… but we’re cooking in the Kitchen with 6 new stamp sets available to order/pre-order starting today!

After a week of peeks, it is time to unveil what new stamps I have cooked up for you. My first card includes 4 out of the 6 new stamp sets, to create a serene winter scene.

Snowmen aren’t just for Christmas… right? The snowy pine trees have grown as a cluster, but shrank in their size – LOL … perfect for adding snowy pine trees off on the horizon. The little skier can be found in the stamp set, Multi-Step Snowy Cabin.

Peaceful Greetings from Kitchen Sink Stamps

I always get super excited when I design a stamp set that has multiple purposes … like this set Multi Step Rolling Hills. It can be used to create snowy slopes or a grassy hillside.

But wait…there’s more!

By using step #3 again as an “embellishment” (VersaMark and red glittery embossing powder)… now those rolling green hills have a patch of poppies!  YaHooo!

Autumn Day in the Park

Happy KSS Monday!

Today’s card was inspired by our current

Autumn Days …

It was created using one of our new stamp sets,

Multi-Step Tree Friends – the companion set for, Multi-Step Trees.

Autumn-Tree-scene

First I stamped a “color changing” autumn tree and built the rest around it. For the grassy hill (mound), place the long grass stamp (from Tree Friends) in a curve on the acrylic stamping block.

Grassy-Hill

Stamping Northern Pine followed by Toffee Crunch. Overlapping each stamping and the colors until blended together. Add in some extra detail around the base of the tree with the small grass stamp and Northern Pine.

Grassy-Hill-cl-up

When adding the wall on the right, I used a scrap of torn paper for a mask and placed it along the slope, below the grass line (the soil line). This allows the stone wall to show through the blades of grass. The light green hilly grass in the distance was also done with torn paper (covering the sky area) and sponging with Pistachio. The sky was done with the same technique with Summer Sky. The little squirrel is a single stamp and was stamped twice (first: Potter’s Clay, second: Gray Flannel) and slightly off register to give him some dimension.
