Trucking down the Bunny Trail

For a Hare Load of Kitchen Sink Stamps Fun!

With Easter around the corner, I had two more Easter cards I wanted to share with you before popping them in the mail!

After stamping the backgrounds of both cards. For Honey Bunny (Multi-Step) Clear Stamps, Classic Old Truck (Multi-Step) Clear Stamps: hill, tree, grass, flowers, sky, and sentiment. And for Honey Bunny (Multi-Step) Clear Stamps, Teddy Bear Wishes (Multi-Step) Clear Stamps: sentiments and green brush stroke. I added the stamped, assembled SVG Cut files on top to finish.

Using individual stamped SVG Cut piece made it easier for me to position the bunny in the truck with eggs. I assembled the different pieces, by adding adhesive to the back of the truck bed. Same for Teddy and his Bunny Ears and basket of eggs.

Thanks for Stopping by and Happy Easter!

Poppin in with a simple Pop Up!

A Pop Up Bunny for a KSS Easter Surprise!

Got-Eggs-Front

Got-Eggs-Bunny-inside-2

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved pop-up books but felt I needed an engineering degree (or tear the book apart) to figure out how it all works! Then I stumbled across these simple Stampendous DCP1008 Pop Up Stages Die-Cut Set. These dies make it so easy to add the right size pop-up to a card!

First I did a “template sample” with all pop-up dies on one sheet of cardstock. This made it easy for me to see which die # would be the right size for the object that would be popping out, which would be the large bunny from Honey Bunny (Multi-Step) Clear Stamps. Both the bunny and the larger lamb from Little Lambs (Multi-Step) Clear Stamps [on the template sample], used the #2 die.pop-up-sample

When doing a pop-up card, you really need to think about make 2 cards … an inside and an outside and then adhere the two cards together. This way the outer card hides the die cut tab that is needed for the pop-up but leaves a whole on the other side.

I created the inside of the card first … which is completely opposite to how I usually stamp a card. lol! After I finished the inside, I realized I had no idea what the front of the card would be! If I used the bunny on the inside, as the “surprise” … what would the front image be or design say that wouldn’t give the bunny surprise away inside? Then it hit me! “Got Eggs?”! What else would a bunny say or ask this time of year? … well besides, “Please don’t bite my head off!” – giggle

Watch KSS “Got Eggs?” Here on YouTube

Got Eggs? for the front of the card was the answer and layered stamping with Playful Alphabet Clear Stamps and Play Alphabet Buddy Clear Stamps was the solution! (I have listed all the inks used below). Here is my first attempt at a video with my pop-up card in action. (Don’t worry, nothing is wrong with your volume… this is a silent video.) 😉

Got-Eggs-Bunny-inside-1TIP: Don’t worry if the two cards aren’t lining up perfectly, They won’t if you start with two pieces of cardstock the same size (mine were both 5.5″x 8.5″ – scored down the center). It is much easier to score both pieces of cardstock, add adhesive to the back side of the pop-up portion of the card and no adhesive where the pop-up whole is. Fold that card closed and with adhesive out slide it into the front card portion (slightly folded) … like a taco. Make sure both score lines come together before closing the two cards together and pressing firmly. The inside card should be sticking out a bit at the bottom. This is not a problem. With the finished card still closed, trim all the layers together (paper trimmer or exact and metal edge ruler) along the bottom for a clean-cut edge. If your card is a fraction shorter than your usual cards… no one will ever notice. They will be too busy oohing and aahing over your pop-up inside! 🙂

If you haven’t tried creating a pop-up card or scrapbook page, I hope today’s card encourages you to try adding a little “POP” to your stamping project.

Keep Calm and Pedal On

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

“May the luck of the Irish
Lead to happiest heights
And the highway you travel
Be lined with green lights.”

Keep Calm and Shamrock On

While I was working on the shamrock shaving cream candy box, it hit me! I could stamp a bunch of shamrocks right over the apples and stamp a few more to fussy cut for adding layers with pop-up dots. I then stamped another bicycle basket in red and added it with a pop-up dot too.

Keep-Calm-and-Shamrock-On-clsupThey say that time heals all things I guess that goes for stamping projects too! 😉

Changing Seasons

Turning Summer into Winter.
Cabin amongst the Pines from Kitchen Sink Stamps

Last week, I shared a card using the stamp sets, Multi-Step Cabin by the Lake and Multi-Step Pine Trees paired together to create a cozy, summer scene. Using two of the new sets from yesterday’s release, Multi-Step Snowy Cabin, and Multi-Step Icy Pond, along with Multi-Step Snowy Pine Trees, now that same little cabin can be used to create a frosty winter wonderland.
Multi Step Snowy Cabin stamps from Kitchen Sink Stamps

I made a change in the cabin. Besides adding a wreath to the door, I separated the roof from the cabin “walls”. This would make it easier to add snowy “accents” to the roof as shown on my card above. First I stamped the cabin (#b) and then the roof (#a). Stamping Step #2b with London Fog. Then I stamped Step #1b with VersaMark and added embossing powder  – Kaleidoscope for a sparkling, icy looking roof.

Icy Pond from Kitchen Sink Stamps

With my Icy Pond card … no masking was needed. The mini snowy pine trees can overlap each other. Finished most of the tree clusters by using Step #1 to add snow …by stamping with VersaMark and adding embossing powder  – Winter Wonderland.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a happy inky day!
