Christmas Card Mash Up

Mash Up the Past!

Today’s Christmas card is a “Mash Up” from 3 past Christmas cards. I didn’t even realize how similar it was to each until after I was finished! I guess when you like something, you keep going back to it – even if it is subconsciously! LOL

Merry-Bright-Ornaments by Kitchen Sink Stamps

I stamped the pine cone and branches directly onto the designer paper and was a pleasantly surprise with how soft and muted the colors became once they dried. I am glad I had waited for the branches to dry before I added the sentiment. Stamping the sentiment 3x’s helped for it to stand out.

… which I have to admit, would not be so quick if I had to cut the tree out by hand. The digital download from Multi Step Snowy Pines can be found HERE.  If only decorating the real tree was this easy. 😉

… getting ready for Christmas!

Multi Step Ornaments from Kitchen Sink Stamps

With my finger, I smeared a small amount of Rock Candy – Distress Stickles, over each ornament to make them sparkle. After the ornaments dried, I used a 1/16″ hole punch at the top of each ornament and ran a couple of inches of silver cord through each one. Attached each ornament with a pop dot. Pierced holes where I wanted to “hang” the ornaments. Starting from the front side of my card, I threaded each end of the silver cord (with an ornament attached) through the “hanging” holes. From the back side of the card, I pulled both ends of the cord until taught, but not to hard –  you don’t want rip the ornament. Tape both ends of the cord down in back. Repeat until all ornaments are “hung”.

Hope you’re not getting tired of bears? I am putting my bear army to good use. 😉

While I was searching around on the web (for a subject not related- typical!), I stumbbled apon this fabulous blog dedicated to desktop crafting called, Clever Someday (really cute story about the name of her blog) by Kay Hall.  She created “09 KutUps”, a dingbat font for electric die cutters (SCAL, MTC, Silhouette Studio + any other cutting software that can cut TrueType fonts) that is absolutely awesome! PLUS… it is FREE!  (She only asks to consider “paying it forward” with a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.)

My card today uses two of the dingbats (with a little tweaking) from – 09 KutUps: flag banner and stitched pocket. The stitched pocket is backed with red card stock so the blue pocket looks like it has red stitches (hard to see due to the angle of the photo). These are only 2 digital images out of the 90+ shapes that are included in this dingbat font.  I know I will be using this font a lot (my nestablilities are starting to look nervous!). If you haven’t already discover this digital download for die cutting, you will want to check it out.
