Finding a Lucky Rainbow

Image

Patience paid off with this card!

This was one of those “card ideas” that came to a screeching halt shortly after I started, then sat untouched over the past couple of months … ever have one of those projects?

Green-Hills-Pot-O-Gold

Green-Hills-Pot-O-Gold by Kitchen Sink Stamps

With St. Patrick’s Day in mind and using the set Multi Step Rolling Hills, I was determined to turn green hills into something a bit more “magical” to surround a pot of gold (from Multi Step St. Patrick’s Day 4 Ducky & Teddy)… but I had no rainbow.  😦

After I stamped my “Irish Spring Hills”, I was stuck… so I pushed it off to the side and there it sat … and sat!

Then a few days ago, a “lucky” thought hit me! I could use Step #1 from Multi Step Lucky Horseshoe and bend it open just a bit (didn’t want to tear it) and maybe it would look like a rainbow!

Stamp

First-Layer-rainbow It worked! Above shows the following colors: Lady Bug (red), Dandelion (yellow), Bamboo Leaves (green), Danube Blue and Grape Jelly (purple). Great start, but I wanted the full-color spectrum of a rainbow (who doesn’t?)

Stamping again the in-between colors (magenta, orange, yellow-green, green blue, violet blue) while overlapping the previous colors, would do the trick.

YaHoo!

Second-Layer-rainbowAbove shows Tangelo overlapping Lady Bug & Dandelion.

After I had my rainbow, the rest of the card came together really quick! I guess it is true … “Good things come to those who wait”!  Just glad the idea finally came before St. Patrick’s Day did! 😉

Here is a close-up that shows the embossing powder on the hills and I added Rock Candy Stickles to the rainbow and gold.

Have a Magical Day!

Changing Seasons

Turning Summer into Winter.
Cabin amongst the Pines from Kitchen Sink Stamps

Last week, I shared a card using the stamp sets, Multi-Step Cabin by the Lake and Multi-Step Pine Trees paired together to create a cozy, summer scene. Using two of the new sets from yesterday’s release, Multi-Step Snowy Cabin, and Multi-Step Icy Pond, along with Multi-Step Snowy Pine Trees, now that same little cabin can be used to create a frosty winter wonderland.
Multi Step Snowy Cabin stamps from Kitchen Sink Stamps

I made a change in the cabin. Besides adding a wreath to the door, I separated the roof from the cabin “walls”. This would make it easier to add snowy “accents” to the roof as shown on my card above. First I stamped the cabin (#b) and then the roof (#a). Stamping Step #2b with London Fog. Then I stamped Step #1b with VersaMark and added embossing powder  – Kaleidoscope for a sparkling, icy looking roof.

Icy Pond from Kitchen Sink Stamps

With my Icy Pond card … no masking was needed. The mini snowy pine trees can overlap each other. Finished most of the tree clusters by using Step #1 to add snow …by stamping with VersaMark and adding embossing powder  – Winter Wonderland.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a happy inky day!

… but we’re cooking in the Kitchen with 6 new stamp sets available to order/pre-order starting today!

After a week of peeks, it is time to unveil what new stamps I have cooked up for you. My first card includes 4 out of the 6 new stamp sets, to create a serene winter scene.

Snowmen aren’t just for Christmas… right? The snowy pine trees have grown as a cluster, but shrank in their size – LOL … perfect for adding snowy pine trees off on the horizon. The little skier can be found in the stamp set, Multi-Step Snowy Cabin.

Peaceful Greetings from Kitchen Sink Stamps

I always get super excited when I design a stamp set that has multiple purposes … like this set Multi Step Rolling Hills. It can be used to create snowy slopes or a grassy hillside.

But wait…there’s more!

By using step #3 again as an “embellishment” (VersaMark and red glittery embossing powder)… now those rolling green hills have a patch of poppies!  YaHooo!
