KS Crew Challenge #11 with Guest Hostess – Makiko!

crew-challenge-logo2Another KS Crew Challenge Monday and today we have another visitor joining us in the Kitchen! I would love to welcome our Guest Hostess for KS Crew Challenge #11 is, Makiko!

makiko-for-kssMakiko’s work is elegant with clean lines and has a graceful way she uses color! Makiko won today’s Guest Hostess spotlight with her winning Purple Rose Sympathy card in the Jan/Feb. “What’s Cooking… contest”. Makiko’s rose reminds me of a tea rose called Sterling Silver. So elegant …So beautiful!

Now before I get to Makiko’s challenge, I would like you all to have the same pleasure as myself, by getting to know a little bit more about her.

___________________________

Hello, my name is Makiko Jones. I’m originally from Tokyo, Japan and now live in a small town in Texas. I’ve been married to my best friend, Troy since 1995. We have 2 children (age 11 and 7) and 3 spoiled cats. Before I found the love of stamping, I was scrapbooking about 2 years. My friends invited me Stampin’ Up! Workshop in fall 2004, and I haven’t stopped stamping since then. I love the endless possibilities of stamping, and I’m so happy I made so many great friends through this wonderful hobby. I hope I start scrapbooking again but right now, the card making and stamping are my favorite things to do. When I’m not in my stamp room, I love to go to great restaurants, shop antique stores and take pictures. I’m so excited to host the KS Crew challenge for the next two weeks and I hope you have a fun time with the challenge. Happy Stamping!

On to Makiko’s challenge, which seems to be a logical choice seeing how Makiko loves and uses color 😀

Makiko’s challenge is to: Make a card or a project with using just monochromatic colors.
I love the look and drama from monochromatic colors. Also, try adding dimension with pop-ups, foam adhesives or anything that can raise pieces. Let’s give our project a pop!

Again, for my sample, I looked to our guest hostess for not only the challenge, but for my inspiration… SO, it was Makiko’s color combo on her Purple Rose Sympathy card, where I got my inspiration for today’s sample. Here is my card for Makiko’s challenge.

purple-roses-revThank you Makiko for the fabulous challenge! 😀

crew-challenge-logo2Another KS Crew Challenge Monday and today we have another visitor joining us in the Kitchen! I would love to welcome our Guest Hostess, Connie!connie-for-kss

Connie’s cards will knock your socks off! She has been a winner of several “What’s Cook’n…” contests and was picked from Nov./Dec.’s contest to join us as Kitchen Sink’s Guest Hostess for KS Crew Challenge, #7.

But before I get to Connie’s challenge, I would like you all to have the same pleasure as I did, by getting to know a little more about Connie! 😀

_________________________________________

I was born and raised in hot and sunny southern Arizona, where I still currently reside. In June, 1994, I married my high school sweetheart and best friend, and we have two wonderful children together.

Paper crafting has been a passion of mine for many years. I have been stamping on and off since 1994, shortly after I got married. However, in 2004, one of my dear friends got me majorly hooked on stamping again. A few years later, I was introduced to Split Coast Stampers (SCS) where you may know me as cmc2stamp. I have learned so much from the other wonderfully talented stampers on SCS, and have seen my own stamping style grow over the last few years! In addition to stamping, I really enjoy the outdoors – camping and hiking, and spending time with my loving family!

Now on to Connie’s challenge, which is: “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not” Valentine. Make a valentine with one of the KSS FLOWER stamp sets without using the colors red & pink.tlc197-spechled-background-holly-wreath-cmc

Boy, did I have fun with this challenge! Not only did I look to Connie for today’s challenge … but I looked to Connie for my inspiration as well! 😀 Last month Connie did this fabulous holly wreath spinner card! Spinner cards always look like so much fun, so I thought today’s challenge was the perfect time for me to make one too. Here is my card for Connie’s challenge.

Emilia’s Challenge is:Make a gift for a friend or relative…..using NO designer paper! 😀

Please hop on over to the Kitchen Sink Stamps Blog were can meet Emilia, see her wonderful and inspiring projects and find out all the details to her challenge…. she does have some rules follow! 😀

I was very excited and inspired about Emilia’s challenge. Emilia herself has so much joy and passion for stamping, she herself inspired me! 😀

I had a Plain Jane Cigar Box from Cosmo Cricket just waiting for something special to come along … and with my dear Mother-in-Law’s birthday coming up… I thought Emilia’s challenge was the perfect time to start turning that Cigar Box into a gift!

SO, I made this monogrammed stationary gift set. (My MIL loved it! … I was so glad!)

box-front I covered the cigar box inside and out using Barely Banana stamped with single rose leaf – Step #2 only, also in Barely Banana. I created a separate section inside the box for the pen.open-box-1 note-pad-and-pen For more inspiration, please check out what the entire KS Crew has whipped up for this challenge!
