Does my Mother’s Day card look a little familiar? The original can be found HERE.

Hello-Spring-Card

I hate to have to admit this … but there are times when I stamp a card and for some reason or another, I don’t end up using it with the original stamped sentiment. Thank goodness for die cut shapes! It’s a great way to change a sentiment! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT day!

Please check out what the KS Crew has cooked up for you too!

Pink Hydrangeas

Happy Kitchen Sink Monday!

My card for today was inspired by Lynn’s 10 min. challenge – #76 (10MC76) – quick masking with nestabilities. I think adding a shape, in this case a square, behind the flowers, makes the flowers look like they are “popping” out of a bow or “window” instead of floating. Thanks Lynn for sharing this great challenge (and tip).

I used 3 Step Hydrangea , 3 Step Letters from the Past and Words of Love.  I think I was a bit heavy-handed when sponging the ink in the square masked area …  I think I should have used a lighter pink. It looks too much like the same color as the flowers. Live and learn. 🙂

Hello … hello … HELLO Spring!

No, this is not a belated April’s Fool joke …. YES, I am Back!

It is sooo good to be back and to say

… Happy Kitchen Sink Monday!

I sure have missed stamping with everyone & the KSS Crew over these past (too long to mention) months! I hope this post finds everyone well and looking forward to Spring… I know I am!

When I last posted … I’m not sure if I mentioned that my family & I had moved to a new home. Well, we did! It has taken much long than I ever had expected to deal with all the boxes [I am  STILL unpacking – URGH!], but we are loving our new home. So, I can’t help but have “clearing out things” on my mind….

First order of business in the Kitchen … we’re having a Big Spring Cleaning Sale!!!!

A New KS Crew Challenge is in the kitchen

It is a new month … which means a new KS Crew Challenge – #22, with our hostess, Makiko!

This month, Makiko challenges us to use our Kitchen Sink Stamps to create our own custom designer paper. I must admit, I think one of my favorite things to do when stamping, is to make my own designer paper! The sky is the limit! So for this challenge, I wanted to try and simulate a soft, elegant and monochromatic designer paper from K&Company (sample below)…. and see if I could create something close to it, but Kitchen Sink Stamps style. I am happy how it turned out. I added a clear embossing powder over the large butter fly to make it pop a bit form the background of flowers and leaves. As for the hardware,  I had silver which wasn’t really working so, I took a marcasite embossing powder and changed it.

All the images (excepted mentioned below) are stamped using: Step #3 – Imperial Purple – VersaFine, Step #2 – Sweet Plum – Memento, Step #1 – Lulu Lavender.

For the Lilies: Step #5 – Imperial Purple – VersaFine, Step #4 – Sweet Plum – Memento, Step #3 – Sweet Plum stamp off – Memento, Step #2 – Lulu Lavender –  Memento, Step #1 – Angel Pink.

Smaller Butterflies: Step #3 – Imperial Purple – VersaFine, Step #2 – Sweet Plum – Memento, Step #1 – Sky Blue.

Thanks for stopping by today!

…and don’t forget to check out what the KS Crew has cooked up for you too! 🙂

Hydrangea---Ann

[late addition] This is a photo of my Father’s Mother. She was an amazing lady. A woman’s libber before it even had a name! LOL! She also was a dancer for the stage and in Hollywood back during the silent era. She danced in Cecil B. DeMille 1923 – The Ten Commandments. In this photo, she is wearing a custom for a stage show. She and my Grand Father, (He is the gentleman in uniform in the double spread right before this post), met in the “Theater”. He painted back drops and scenery for the stage and later did a few films, “Heidi” is one film that may sound familiar.  My Grandparents were not famous, just one of  the performers & artists in the background or behind the scenes… and they loved every minute of it! 😀
