Today’s mini scrapbook pages (6″x6″) are not new, but are very dear to my heart, so I must show them again on this special day that pays tribute to those in service!

These 2 pages are of my GrandFather, who served in the Army in WWI. They were made for a small family album I started. The original post can be seen HERE for a challenge to “Stamp Out Alzheimer’s”.

PS – Thank you all for your concerns about where I’ve been. It really meant alot to me! No, I have not fallen into a deep abyss. My attention was needed on the family front. I have missed stamping and ALL my inky friends! – Hugs!

Happy CR Friday!
It’s time for another batch of color recipes from the kitchen, this time for the set Multi Step Kittens & Pup.
••••••••
I hope you aren’t getting tired of seeing samples of stamping on fabric… but as you might guess, I have been having fun… not to mention making some gifts! This tea towel was made for a dear friend’s birthday. She was two Springer Spaniels of her own. One of them is the older brother to our pup. So, you would guess right, she LOVED the gift!
I am just about finished with a tutorial for how I stamped the plaid on the towel, but must run off to a school product … the Father’s Follies! I will be back with the tutorial… and maybe a review of the production.
In the mean time, the color recipe for this Kittens & Pup set can be found HERE. Both Memento & Palette CR’s are included.

Washing instructions can be found HERE.

Now… on with some samples to one our newest sets: Multi Step Hummingbirds.

This card was originally for one of Lynn’s wonderful 10 minute card challenge – 10MC68…but when you 1/2 way cut through what was supposed to be an emboss … you improvise! LOL!
Today, I am spotlighting one of the 4 new stamp sets available starting today! To see them all, you can go HERE.
Now, ever since the release of (and out of stock), Special Edition 3 Step Hummingbird, so many of you made it clear how much you enjoy hummingbirds…. but I knew that the 3 Step version needed work to get that “color blaze” just right.
So, I went back to the drawing board and created two new hummingbirds! My first card shows the simpler hummingbird (without the “blaze” of color on its head or neck) and it is 4 steps. My second card shows the second hummingbird in the mini stamp set. This one is a bit more complex, due to that “blaze” of color on its head and neck. This hummingbird is 8 steps.
I know… you’re thinking “What! 8 steps?”
But seriously, it isn’t as bad as it sounds. I broke this little fellow in half (Yikes! That doesn’t sound very nice at all!). That comes to 4 steps for the head and 4 for the body. The ID Film has a big red dot where to reconnect the bird back together.

By splitting this image into two seperate halves, allows this birdie two different flying positions and an open area for that intense ”POP” of color for the head/neck. Directions for lining the head & body back together with an optional “flying postion” can found in the Hummingbirds (Multi Step) Color Recipe, which is now in the KSS Forum.
Here is a quick reference guide for the two different ways of lining the seperate halves of the hummingbird back together.

Have I scared you?
I hope not. Might sound complicated… but really it’s not. You build the head then the body
You CAN do it! I know you can!

Color Throwndown Challenge #83 … take 2 & a color bonus!
I thought Tammy’s CT color challenge with these bright Spring colors were so fun… I just had to do another card for this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge! …. and boy, you should check out what the Color Throwdown Design Team came up with… gorgeous!
Tammy’s colors for Color Throwdown #83 are:
Marigold Morning, Wild Wasabi, Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo
I had started this card several weeks ago. I did not like the background behind the lamb and bunny. It was white and the lamb was getting lost. So, I had come to stand still and put the aside… hoping something would come along and inspire me. Well, it did … it was Connie’s clouds with her little lambs card [HERE] was the ticket!!!! (two minds thinking alike down the same path… but mine got stuck in the mud! LOL!) Thanks Connie for the heavenly inspiration! You will also find a color recipe for both Little Lambs HERE and the Bunny from 3 Step Honey Bunny HERE.
••••••••
With my first challenge card, I mentioned that I did not have all the SU! inks… which lead me to find close substitutes using a different ink brand.
I will admit, I have been working on an Ink Substitution Chart for some time now and I would like to share it with you.
So now if you see a color you don’t have used in a Multi Step Color Recipe, you can go to the chart and see if you have something else that might work instead.
Please keep in mind that colors can shift even within a manufacturer (even as I walk from room to room. LOL!). For example, I have two different ink pads of Imperial Purple…. one is dark gray-purple and the other is a brighter blueish-purple. Kind of crazy… but it happens, different dye lots, even aging over time can cause the difference…. but, I can’t bear to part with either one! When one of the purples is used by its self, it is noticeable that they are very different… but when I use either one when I am multi step stamping … it all seems to meld together and they look the same. I think I’ll call it color harmony!
My starting point was to match inks to SU!’s paper line, comparing the full line of Tsukineko’s inks. This included; Memento Dye Inks, Brilliance Pigment Inks, VersaFine Pigment Inks and VersaMagic Pigment Inks. You will notice a few colors are the alternative choice for several different colors… it might be a touch lighter, brighter or darker… but close enough where it works. You’ll also find some colors are a “spot on” match (love that!). I also included two other ink brands to my ink substitution chart …. Palette Hybrid Ink and Adirondack Dye Inks.
Again… this is just how my eyes are seeing it, you may find that you have a substitution that you like much better than what I have here on this list. …. and if you do, I would love to learn about it.
Hope you find my Ink Substitution Chart helpful. Happy Stamping!
