A hatched idea for a Eggstra Special surprise.
Thanks so much for stopping by for another Kitchen Sink Monday!
I had one more Eater card that I had wanted to make. I wanted to make a card that had a little extra surprise to it for a very dear friend ….. so when I saw Jan Tink’s card HERE, I thought her idea of a brad acting as a hinge would look pretty cool as an egg with a “special surprise” inside. Thanks Jan for the inspiration for my Hoppy Easter card…. and for everyone who celebrate Easter yesterday, I hope your day was Eggstra wonderful!
You’ll also want to check out what the KS Crew has created for today!

2 more cards, a mini tutorial and a hint about the up coming give away!
Give away hint … a stamp set and something to stamp on… any guesses?
The 2 cards today are from the newly released 3 step stamp set called, “Hey Chick!”. Card #2 was inspired by Jen Del Muro’s: Sketch For You to Try. Thank you Jen! As always, it was fun!
Card #1 and a mini tutorial on quick shadowing.
Card #1 – Materials used:
Stamps: 3 Step Hey Chick! from Kitchen Sink Stamps.
Paper: Very Vanilla, Barely Banana and Cameo Coral from Stampin’ Up!
Ink: All from Stampin’ Up! Barely Banana, Summer Sun, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip for the chicks. Pretty in Pink (step #1 is stamped off 1x and step#2 is stamped fully inked, Cameo Coral (is step #3) and Rose Red (the flowers on the egg) for the Egg.
Ribbon: narrow satin from Michael’s
Other Embellishments: Clear Dew Drops and Spica Marker – Pink
Mini Tutorial – A Quick Shadow:
Now to add depth to the egg, I added more outline to the cracked egg shell and some shadowing.
First I made a palette of ink using my Rose Red ink pad. With the ink pad closed, I gave it a few squeezes. This will transfer a small amount of ink to the lid of your ink pad.
Stamps: 3 Step Hey Chick! from Kitchen Sink Stamps.
