A hatched idea for a Eggstra Special surprise.

easter-eggThanks so much for stopping by for another Kitchen Sink Monday!

I had one more Eater card that I had wanted to make. I wanted to make a card that had a little extra surprise to it for a very dear friend ….. so when I saw Jan Tink’s card HERE, I thought her idea of a brad acting as a hinge would look pretty cool as an egg with a “special surprise” inside. Thanks Jan for the inspiration for my Hoppy Easter card…. and for everyone who celebrate Easter yesterday, I hope your day was Eggstra wonderful! :D

2 more cards, a mini tutorial and a hint about the up coming give away!

Give away hint … a stamp set and something to stamp on… any guesses? :D

The 2 cards today are from the newly released 3 step stamp set called, “Hey Chick!”. Card #2 was inspired by Jen Del Muro’s: Sketch For You to Try. Thank you Jen! As always, it was fun! :D

Card #1 and a mini tutorial on quick shadowing.

Mini Tutorial – A Quick Shadow:

Now to add depth to the egg, I added more outline to the cracked egg shell and some shadowing.

First I made a palette of ink using my Rose Red ink pad. With the ink pad closed, I gave it a few squeezes. This will transfer a small amount of ink to the lid of your ink pad.

100_0928.jpg
Using a small damp paint brush and the ink on the back of the ink pad lid, I create an outline for the front of the cracked egg shell. Adding a little more water to my brush (very little) I pull the ink from the outline moving upward to create a shadow. This gives the look of a shadow on the inside of the egg.

Then for the final touch, I go over the stamped flowers with a pink Spica Marker for a touch of sparkle. (oh how I love these markers!) :D
