Color Recipe Friday
Something new for Fridays from the Kitchen.
Many readers may not know this, but Kitchen Sink Stamps didn’t always offer Color Recipe guides to support their stamps. I’m not sure myself when the first color recipe appeared or how it all started … but from the very first one, KSS stampers quickly let me know that “color recipes” were a big help getting their creative color mojo workin’.
Fast forward, 4 1/2 years later (do you believe it??!!!) and I still have stamp sets without a color recipe. (gasp!)
One thing I know about myself, to get things done that are on the “catch-up” list, I must have a deadline. Otherwise it is this interruption or that distraction that “cuts in line” and pushes those “catch-up” tasks further down the list …. (is it just me?)
I love it when I get those emails asking for help with a particular color challenge… I also look at it as a deadline…”someone needs it now”. So, when I received this recent color recipe request, I was inspired to start “Color Recipe Friday”.
Today’s color recipe request comes from Billie Jo, who is facing 4 upcoming graduations. Each with a unique color combination using the set, 3 Step Graduation. My first card was inspired by one of Billie Jo’s color requests: royal blue/red/white. The tassel could be a simple red and white by using only Step #2 in red, but what if the tassel is red/white/blue… how cool would that be? This is when using dew drop inks come in handy! Following the “tassel turns”, first with red, then blue while using my finger to wipe away any area of unwanted ink. Then add more red and ending with blue.
Yea!

The next card was inspired from another of Billie Jo’s color combination. She needed orange and black, but I did this card in red and black. You can down load the full color recipe to 3 Step Graduation – HERE.
Please keep those color requests coming! Leave them either here on my blog or in the KSS forum under Color Recipes Requests.
… so, which KSS set do you wish had a color recipe?

Sneak peeks to New Stamps start this Monday, 4/16
Have a FABULOUS weekend!!!

I am slowly coming out of my sugar induced coma due to all the celebrating with several graduations and birthdays that took place this past week! whew!
Today’s card was inspired… and cased from a by a card by KSS Crew Designer Lisa, you can see HERE, which was from a challenge to case an other card you had done. So, the ripples of casing just keeping going – LOL! Lisa’s card was a money holder, I changed my card to be a slide out tag.

WOW! KS Crew Challenge #13 & POM!
Our hostess for today’s KS Crew Challenge#13, is one of our new KS Crew members, Connie. Connie is asking us sharpen up on our cutting skills!!
Connie’s Challenge is: Running with Scissors!
… “Didn’t your mom ever tell you NOT to run with scissors ? Well for this challenge I am saying it is okay!! Okay….maybe not to actually physically run with scissors, instead let’s let our scissors do some running! This week’s challenge is to have at least one cut image on your card…it does not have to be the focal point image, and you can cut one thing or many….that is up to you…but make sure and let your scissors do some running.”
- Connie
PLUS, the Kitchen has an extra serving of FUN!!! KS Crew Member, Angela, got so inspired by Connie’s challenge … she took her scissors out for a marathon run … which turned into a surprise Project of the Month – for May! YaHoo!!!!
So, pick up your scissors and join us and play along with Connie’s challenge … again, you will be playing for a chance for one of 3 prizes. 1st prize winner is $50 worth of Kitchen Sink Stamps. You can’t win if you don’t play.

Kitchen Sink and CPS week and sketch #73!
Pardon for my absence … I have been switching everything over to a new computer!
(yeah!)
My old computer was giving all the warning signs that it was time! I am glad that I was able to make the switch before the fatal crash took place!
So… with my mysterious disappearance explained … on to other exciting news!
This week, Kitchen Sink Stamps has been an excited and proud sponsor at CPS (Card Positioning Systems)!
WOW!!! You just have to look at the amazing designs these talented ladies at CPS came up with for Tami’s Sketch #73 using Kitchen Sink Stamps!!!! It is a 3 part’er (1, 2, 3) … and each card is as stunning and unique as the next! I send a big THANK YOU to Tami at CPS and to her talented (and friendly) group of ladies! This week has been a blast!
And CPS wasn’t the only ones who were strutting their stuff in the Kitchen this week! The Kitchen Design Crew played along with CPS’s card sketch … and they too let their creative talents shine! To check their creative take on CPS card sketch #73 … just click on their names.
and…well, I had too play too of coarse! But I had a specific celebration in mind.
In honor of the talented Lori Telcer, who has just recently graduated from 3 years of graduate school!!!
Hats off to you Lori!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to try something different (different for me that is) for Lori’s graduation card. I found my inspiration from the beautiful cards that Lori herself has made using acetate, so I thought I would give it a try. Now I must admit, it is funny WHEN these thoughts of inspiration decide to come to you … for me, it is so often when I am in the car! Now, if I am sitting in traffic, that is a good thing… but, if not… well, I can’t tell you how many exits I’ve missed because the other 1/2 of my brain took the “creative inspiration exit” 1/4 of a mile back! LOL! But that is another story and I am digressing!
Anyway, here is my CPS #73 Sketch in Honor of Lori’s Graduation from Grad School. It is a front acetate cover in cased in paper. I did this because I wanted to add a little glitter in between the acetate for a little extra sparkle.

Paper: Basic White from Papertrey, Wild Wasabi and Basic Black from Stampin’ Up!and clear acetate.

* NOTE: My last visit to this crazy little place I LOVE to haunt, is in downtown LA in the garment district…. in the bead and notions area of the garment district…..LOL! Anyway, my sister-in law (who introduced me to this shop) and I have been making treks to this little place for over 10 years! And on my last visit, I discovered that they have a web site! The place is call, The Bead Factory (what else!) Their site has a video showing what the shop is like (which is usually packed with people!). It is wall to wall BEADS! (I have to be VERY focused when I go in … or I don’t come out! LOL).
A Big “Thank You” to the Kitchen’s June Guest Designer!
How quickly June came and went!
But even though this month was fast… I took my time viewing the beautiful cards created by Lynn McAuley, the Kitchen Sink’s Guest Design for June!
I would like to share just a few of Lynn’s beautiful cards that she created this month (which can be seen along with other lovely cards from Lynn in her gallery on SCS and the Kitchen Sink Idea Gallery).
Thank you so much Lynn for sharing your creative talents with us this month! I hope you will thrill us again with another visit to the Kitchen real soon!
Two Graduation Cards
I would like to share 2 cards made with the 3 Step Graduation set.
The first card was sneak peek #3 and was inspired from Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge #47 (see her card here). When ever I need inspiration… I look to Beate’s sketches to get me going!
