Monday’s Magnetic Challenge…take 2

Yes, I had to do another magnet from Lynn’s challenge yesterday! Magnets are way too much fun!

I used the same quote, but tried to make a magnet that looked more masculine. So, I used the set, 3 Step Adornments. I added the lock with pop dots, after I ran the two layers together through my 510 Xyron using the Laminate/Magnet cartridge. lynns-ch-magnet

Monday’s Magnetic Challenge (and POM)…

bw-lynn-spotlight-flower… and what a fun challenge this is!

Today’s KS Crew Challenge is hosted by Lynn McAuley.   Lynn has double the fun for us today. Her challenge is also KSS February’s – Project of the Month! YaHoo, Lynn! :D

Lynn’s challenge is: Create a Refrigerator Magnet. Use your computer to generate a favorite quote, witty saying, or scripture and then use your Kitchen Sink Stamps to turn it into a wonderful bit of refrigerator art! Size should be no larger than 4″ x 4″ but can be any shape you choose as long as it fits into a 4 x 4 space on your refrigerator.

Boy, was I stumped with Lynn’s challenge! I knew it was going to be fun … but my two biggest challenge were… what quote or saying was I going to use and did I have 4″x4″ space available on my fridge???!!! LOL!

For the quote, a dear friend reminded me of a quote I hadn’t heard for quiet a while and thought it would make a wonderful magnet. So, I reached for my “Go To” set… 3 Step Daisy and started stamping! After all my pieces were together, I run it through my 510 Xyron using the Laminate/Magnet cartridge. Easy Peasy!!! … and can be wiped clean if some spaghetti sauce should happen to hit it … did I mention I have 2 boys?! LOL!

So, here is my magnet (and I found a spot on my fridge!) for Lynn’s challenge. :D magnet

….and a fabulous Bonus Tutorial from Lynn!

Thank you Lynn for the inspiring challenge & fabulous project! Your challenge was a blast! A FUN project that can also be a meaningful and quick gift! I thought it would be fun to give the magnet to my friend as a card. With a few glue dots on the back of the magnet … I now how a card and gift all in one. :D

Monday Notes in the Kitchen.

Happy President’s Day with another Kitchen Sink Monday !!! For today’s KSS Monday, I would like to share a set of swan note cards I made for a dear friend’s birthday. I used the set 3 Step Love Birds to stamp the swans. She loves swans and I think she is going to be very pleased to receive these special cards.

swan-notes-1

I did something very different when I stamped these swans. Normally, I stamp the steps in order, starting with my lightest ink for the first step and ending with my darkest ink for the last step. WELL, not with this bird! LOL! I stamped out of order … and I am very happy how these white swans turned out. :D

Stamping order for this swan: Step #2 – Going Gray (stamped off 2x’s), Step #3 – Going Gray (stamped off 1x), Step #3 – Going Gray (full strength), Step #1 – Frost White pigment ink from Color Box, Step #5 – Smokey Gray and then before stmping, reink only the beak area with Onyx Black – both inks are from VersaFine. All other inks are SU! unless noted. By stamping Step #1 with the Frost White pigment ink out of order, it was easier to register the previous steps and the white smooths out the grays leaving the swan looking more white than gray. :D swan-notes-1-close-up

Materials for the full set – Stamps: 3 Step Love Birds from Kitchen Sink Stamps. Paper: White Exact. from Wausau. Chiara from Stardream. Shimmer White, Metallic Silver, Blush Blossom, Blue Bayou, Sfot Sky and Baja Breeze from SU! Ink: (see above). Embellishments: Petite Classic & Scalloped Ovals and Curved Rectangles Nestabilities. Ric Rac Scalloped Border Pierceablilities. Dry Embossing folder – D’Vine Swirls from Provo Craft. Blue Bayou stitched ribbon from SU! Sweet Blush Grosgrain ribbon from Papertrey. Pearl & jewel rhinestones from my stash.

KSCrew Challenge#7 with our Guest Hostess Connie!

crew-challenge-logo2Another KS Crew Challenge Monday and today we have another visitor joining us in the Kitchen! I would love to welcome our Guest Hostess, Connie!connie-for-kss

Connie’s cards will knock your socks off! She has been a winner of several “What’s Cook’n…” contests and was picked from Nov./Dec.’s contest to join us as Kitchen Sink’s Guest Hostess for KS Crew Challenge, #7.

But before I get to Connie’s challenge, I would like you all to have the same pleasure as I did, by getting to know a little more about Connie! :D

_________________________________________

I was born and raised in hot and sunny southern Arizona, where I still currently reside. In June, 1994, I married my high school sweetheart and best friend, and we have two wonderful children together.

Paper crafting has been a passion of mine for many years. I have been stamping on and off since 1994, shortly after I got married. However, in 2004, one of my dear friends got me majorly hooked on stamping again. A few years later, I was introduced to Split Coast Stampers (SCS) where you may know me as cmc2stamp. I have learned so much from the other wonderfully talented stampers on SCS, and have seen my own stamping style grow over the last few years! In addition to stamping, I really enjoy the outdoors – camping and hiking, and spending time with my loving family!

Now on to Connie’s challenge, which is: “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not” Valentine. Make a valentine with one of the KSS FLOWER stamp sets without using the colors red & pink.tlc197-spechled-background-holly-wreath-cmc

Boy, did I have fun with this challenge! Not only did I look to Connie for today’s challenge … but I looked to Connie for my inspiration as well! :D Last month Connie did this fabulous holly wreath spinner card! Spinner cards always look like so much fun, so I thought today’s challenge was the perfect time for me to make one too. Here is my card for Connie’s challenge.
