Hit the Kitchen 4 the 7th inning stretch

Well, today I needed a quick birthday gift card holder! I then remembered a cool gift card holder that Nicole, the Stampin’ Librarian, shared on her blog that she saw from Jill Hillard’s blog. Here is Nicole’s and here is Jill’s , the one that started the chain! :D It is cute, quick and easy… which is exactly what I was looking for … you see, this birthday gift card is already belated! Only there was one change in the line up …. I needed this gift card to be for a guy!

So… out of the bull pen, I call upon my 3 Step Baseball set for a home run! I love how this little gift card turned out, especially the linen thread wrapped around the edge (I did a slight modification to the original) to give that stitched glove look (an embellishment that a 16 year old dude would not gag over) … and it was quick and easy … LOVE THAT!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT! You are an All Star!!!!! :D

Materials:

Stamps – 3 Step Baseball from Kitchen Sink Stamps.

Paper – Very Vanilla, Cranberry Crisp and Close to Cocoa Designer Series from Stampin’ Up!.

Ink – Step #1 Desert Sand (Memento), Step #2 Sahara Sand (SU!), Step #3 Rich Cocoa (Memento), Step #4 Chocolate Chip (SU!). Sentiment in Rhubarb Stalk (Memento).

Embellishment – Linen Thread from SU!

Quick and Simple Pretty Tear Drops

I had so much fun when I designed Pretty Petals that I wanted to design another set …. that could be used on its own or together with Pretty Petals. So with that in mind, Pretty Tear Drops was born.

Here are a few quick & simple cards using Pretty Tear Drops all on its own … I’ll have something to show you a little later using the two sets, Pretty Petals & Pretty Tear Drops together. Thanks for looking! :D

Two one layer cards using Pretty Tear Drops. The Sentiment comes from the set Never a Loss 4 Words – both sets from Kitchen Sink Stamps.

Materials for both cards:

Paper – Basic White from Papertrey.

Ink – Ocean Depth, Turquoise Gem, Keylime, Mango Madness and Night Sky – all are VersaMagic inks.

Highlighting the center spots with Star Dust Stickles.

Multi Color Butterfly

I want to share how I added more colors to this 3 Step Butterfly (yes, really..only 3 steps! LOL) card and again, my color inspiration came from Color Throwdown weekly color challenge #2, which you can find here. I did Memento inks instead of SU! but, I think it comes darn close to same look of the weekly color picks. Hope you agree? My sketch is from SCS Sketch challenge #SC185 (find here), only made changed it to a square. :D Materials:

Stamps- 3 Step Butterfly

Paper – Pumpkin Pie, Cool Carribean, Barely Banana and Whisper White from Stampin’ Up!

Ink (all Memento) – Step # 1 Dandelion on the top and Tangelo on the bottom (see image A). Step # 2 Potter’s Clay. Step #3 Rich Cocoa with Tuxedo Black on the edges (see images B & C).

Embellishments: 3 small clear rhinestones from The Bead Factory.

(image A):

Step #1 (Dandelion & Tangelo): as you can see through the clear block where on the stamp I used the 2 different inks… I wasn’t that precise with using the two colors, but the dew drop shaped inks make it very easy to block in color directly from the pad. Tip: start with the lightest color first so you are less like to mess up you ink pads … if you do ( which I will inevitably do from time to time … baby wipe usually does the job!) :D

B

Step #2 (Potter’s Clay): this step will cover up the areas in Step #1 where I may have overlapped a bit. :D

Step #3: First I ink the stamp using Rich Cocoa.

Step #3: Ink the edges & antennas no top of Rich Cocoa with Tuxedo Black.

Hope this was helpful and thanks for looking! :D
